SocialText Brings Web 2.0 to Your Company
Wednesday January 28, 2009
What if your corporate intranet could be more useful: say, encouraging employees to collaborate and work together on projects and documents, and facilitating communication among functional
groups and offices in multiple locations? Socialtext, a collaboration platform that can complement or replace your corporate intranet, can do just that.

Business starts to take Web 2.0 tools seriously
By Jessica Twentyman, Financial Times, 1/27/2009
Ross Mayfield, SocialText’s chairman, president and co-founder, says: “Our belief has always been that, when technology doesn’t get in the way, people are eager to share and collaborate, and wikis are a great way to do that. But a corporate customer needs a tool that can accommodate the hierarchies, norms of behaviour and levels of accountability and control that exist already within its culture.”

Social Networking Vendor Pays It Forward to the Unemployed
By C.g. Lynch , CIO.com , 01/16/2009
Socialtext, a Palo-Alto based vendor that builds social networking software for enterprises to use in-house, wants to do its part to pay some good will forward at recession time. The company has begun offering all its products for free to laid-off workers from any company that has trimmed 5% or more of its workforce in the past year. They can use the tool to form alumni networks to exchange information about job opportunities or start new companies.

SocialText Helps Workers Affected in Downturn by Launching Corporate Alumni Network - Socialtext announced an offer to provide a free Socialtext account to aid employees who have lost jobs due to the downturn. The program permits any former employee and HR director of a company that reduced its workforce by 5% or more in the last year to create a Corporate Social Network for free. Also introduced, the Corporate Alumni Network will enable community builders the benefit of the success of others who have used Socialtext to create community in times of economic mayhem. Ross Mayfield - "My hope is that this Corporate Alumni Network offer for the 2009 Recession helps people come together to help each other share job leads, share and collaborate on resumes, share and create events, share and document corporate history, and share new business opportunities for the company and alumni".
